Call for Participation
Young scholars (working on their MA, PhD and having recently completed a PhD in humanities and social science) are invited to participate in the conference
Politics of History and Memory Conflicts in Post-Communist Europe,
which will take place at the Faculty of History, University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań (Poland), 26th – 28th of Mai 2022.
The conference is part of the Jean Monnet Network called "European Memory Politics", in which scholars from Canada, France, Hungary and Poland are working on the topic "Populism, Nationalism and the Challenges to a European Memory Culture". See more about the project at: https://www.eucanet.org/projects/memory-politics/
A round table of young scholars is planned next to panel discussions and lectures of invited experts. The participants of the round table will discuss and compare politics of history and memory conflicts in Central and Eastern Europe . The main goal will be to explore how the 20th century's past is (re)interpreted, commemorated, and narrativized in contemporary political life.
We invite young scholars to apply for participation at the round table (with prepared short opening statements). An application should be sent to Prof. Beata Halicka (e-mail: beata.halicka@amu.edu.pl) and contains a cover letter with affiliation and a short description of the research topic, carried out by researcher and related to the subject of the conference (all together max. 500 words, in English) by 14th of March 2022.
Applicants will be notified of the results by 1st of April. The organisers will cover travel and accommodation expenses for the participants.
The conference language is English.
